European ADRs Climb Higher in Tuesday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 0.75% higher at 1,047.59 on the BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Tuesday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company MorphoSys (MOR) and network infrastructure operator Nokia (NOK), which rose 4.7% and 3.8% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company STMicroelectronic (STM) and medical device maker Edap (EDAP), which were up 2.8% and 1.1%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical firms Genfit (GNFT) and Cellectis (CLLS), which fell 14.6% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY) and biotech firm Forward Pharma (FWP), which lost 1.1% and 0.6%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by mining companies BHP Billiton (BBL) and Rio Tinto (RIO), which climbed 3% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by biotech company Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and pharmaceutical firm Avadel (AVDL), which rose 1.9% and 1.5%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by specialty pharmaceutical company Motif Bio (MTFB) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which lost 7.5% and 3.3% respectively. They were followed by educational media company Pearson (PSO), and alcoholic beverage company Diageo (DEO), which were off 0.4% and 0.01%.
